Buying a Domain – best bang for your buck

There are TONS of sites where you can buy a domain and as a web designer I deal the top handful very often. The sites I see the most are:

• 1and1.com
• GoDaddy
• Network Solutions
• Domain.com

Other than 1and1.com (that is one service I really can’t stand), your really can’t go wrong, but overall I prefer to use Godaddy. Their site is easy to use to buy and manage your domains, but you do have to get around their many many upsells. I would not recommend them for hosting or email, but for domain buying they are a great service.

When searching for the domain you want, GoDaddy does a great job suggesting other domains and extensions (sometimes to an annoying degree), but it is very easy to find something that works for you to use.
